| Dear friends,
Thanksgiving is a wonderful American holiday that we really miss celebrating with family and friends. We do, however, stop to reflect on everything for which we are thankful. That includes you and all that you mean to us. We are continuously humbled by your love, prayers, generosity, and commitment to us. Thank you.
We hear that there is a relatively new global phenomenon around this time of year called Giving Tuesday. It began in New York City in 2012 as a day to give back. Always held on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, the concept has grown and spread to literally every continent. People around the world now give to charitable causes every year on Giving Tuesday.
Our organization suggested that this year, we invite you to participate and to consider giving a little extra toward God’s ministry through us and One Challenge. Jay and I are regularly confronted by unexpected, significant ministry opportunities, by helping a Zimbabwean ministry partner or young adult move forward with God’s purposes for their lives, or at times, by simply meeting their basic human needs. Some examples this year have included paying for rent, groceries, and school fees, or financing young Zimbabweans to attend Lose Your Life or the OC First Switch internship. We have also helped with the necessary financial capital for a couple of individuals to start their own business or income-generating projects. |
