Introduction
The challenge faced by many leaders of organizations (NGO’s, FBO’s) is one of sustainability. In my recent interaction with some leaders of organizations, it has become evident that they are confronted with this challenge of ministerial sustainability and its application within their respective organizations. Often, this subject matter induces stress as it appears that they are not making progress despite their years of experience or the time that has lapsed since their respective ministries were formed.
The problem is that for a long time many leaders of organizations have focused on fundraising when it comes to issues of organizational sustainability. Yet, this topic goes beyond the issue of funds, it calls for a multifaceted approach and an in-depth synthesis of what it entails. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has further complicated matters, a situation which has left leadership and management teams in most organizations uncertain on how they can survive and sustain themselves as an organization. It is therefore against this background that this topic will be discussed extensively for a comprehensive understanding of the three pillars for Organizational Sustainability.
