From our hearts to yours, Merry Christmas!

from Hong Kong

In April, we had the privilege of hosting four OC Hong Kong workers. The purpose of their visit was to discover possible ministry collaboration opportunities in the future. It was such a joy to get to know them. After spending a week in our home and ministering around Joburg, Karl traveled with them to Cape Town to do ministry there for a week

The Team

Marcus and Victoria. Marcus was a pastor for years and has stepped down for a time to focus on reaching people through sports, stretching, and teaching guitar. His wife Victoria is passionate about children and has led many children through a program called Kidzworkx. The program gives children, ages 8-12, an opportunity to explore their identity in Christ, their unique gifting, and reframing some of the deeper issues in life with Jesus in the picture.

James was also a pastor for years and has opened 5 cafés in Hong Kong called Halfway Coffee. He uses his barista skills to draw people together to begin to form relationships and talk about life lessons, character, and Christ’s love. He also enjoys sports and cooking.

Shane was also a youth pastor who has now opened up his own gym where he does Thai boxing, using his space for pastors, and youngsters to gather, work out and share the gospel. He also enjoys cooking.

Some of the highlights of our time with them:

• Running with them through the neighborhood.

• Chinese churches – celebrating the Chinese New Year – ministered through worship, preaching the Word, resistance band training, barista training, physical therapy, and massages.

• Introducing them to leaders in ReadySetGo sports ministry to see how we can partner together.

• Soweto – introducing them to our friends and leaders who would like to start programs with youth using boxing and fitness in their church, as well as with the elderly using stretching.

• Prayer walking through Chinese neighborhood in Johannesburg.

• Cape Town – Fitness outreaches with township youth, connecting with the Chinese Outreach Network leaders, Climbing Table Mountain, and exploring the local sites.

It was hard to say goodbye to these kindred spirits. Our hope is to continue to partner with them as well as send workers from Hong Kong to serve in South Africa.

Thank you for your prayers!

Karl & Jenny
