On the Road Again

Last month I wrote about the people who we love dearly and are now trying to be and make disciples. In particular, some are meeting in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe. Harare is a tough place to live, much less to make disciples. It’s expensive, crime and unemployment are high, and traffic is bad. You can see in the photo some of the ones you have been praying for over the past few years.

There are even two there who I do not know yet and that means that our disciples are making new disciples. These young people do not attend a church together. Instead, they are with their families on Sundays. Currently, we don’t plan to start a new congregation, but we will see what happens after they make disciples who in turn make disciples. These dear people not only want to stay in touch with each other but also with me and Sarah. That is why as I write this, I am packing for a weekend trip to Harare. If all goes well, I will have a string of conversations with those I have known well over the past five years.

Terrence and Lenience’s wedding

Basers are getting married! In December, Lenience and Terence were married in Bulawayo and in February, Nyasha (who joined The Base in 2016) married his beloved Monalisa. Other Basers have been married over the past few years. Sarah and I led a married couples retreat in February. It’s a real honor to be involved with those we care for in this way. On the road again! We had planned a furlough for May and June but now it will start in April. Actually, travel starts in March as we will attend our nephew’s wedding in Australia.

If plans succeed, we will arrive in California in time for Easter. Then we will be in Arizona for part of April, Colorado for half of June, and California for the rest of the time. We will write about the details as they take shape.

I have two primary prayer requests this month. First, please pray for Zirah (wearing a hat and a blue shirt). He has a natural leadership gift and is gathering some Basers in Harare and keeping them accountable. God could use him mightily so pray for him however God tells you to pray.

The second request is for us for safe travel. Your prayers have helped us on other trips, and we need them this time as well. So, I am thanking you in advance. In Jesus,

Jay and Sarah
