The Harvest …

There is a Place for You!

The more I live here, the more I hear stories about the explosive growth of The Kingdom. Ordinary people are doing extraordinary things in order to go after many who have never heard, the ones who are yet to believe. Here and there, we hear remarkable ways the Lord of the harvest is drawing people unto himself. Some circumstances are so beyond explanation; all we can say is, “This is a God thing!” We are here, and what we see happening right before our eyes, we whisper to ourselves, “If we tell anyone about what just happened, the way it happened, they’d hardly believe me.”

The astonishing part of it all is that some still believe they don’t belong in the field, where God is changing minds and hearts. In some ways, they disqualify themselves. Too young. Too old. Too ordinary. Too busy with “important things.” But “The Call” can be experienced in so many different formats. There are so many ways to respond, and YOU can be part of at least one of them.

Often, I mention prayer. Do you have any idea what happens when you pray for the harvest and those who labor in it? First, God answers every single prayer whispered before Him. Even before you think, He does “His stuff” in places where you cannot be. Isn’t it amazing? Pray for people to come to know Him. Pray for laborers. Pray for His protection and strength for all those toiling with sweat and tears—that His glory may cover Africa as the waters cover the sea.

Beyond that, find ways to go for at least two weeks and be part of a short-term project. Yes, give of yourself, time, and your talents. There will always be something that you can do. There are great opportunities to be involved in, working alongside someone, serving in some capacity. If you can go, don’t miss the opportunity. Go in a group, go by yourself, we will always have a way to suggest something if you are willing to come for a short (as well as a long) period.

There is another one. Give. Give of your talents and treasure so someone can go where you cannot. Help laborers to go and remain in the field. The harvest is indeed plenty, and the workers are few. The harvest cannot afford to lose more laborers due to a lack of financial support. Help others to harvest where you cannot put your sickle to work. Yes! There is a place for you in the harvest. Can you hear His call? Can you hear those who are lost and crying out to find The Way? Can you? Now, ask yourself: If not now, when? If not you, who? The task is urgent. Their final “destiny” is eternal. What we do now about it has consequences that stretch beyond this life.

With you in His harvest,
